Poems ~ Authentic Indian Song Interpretations ~ Short Stories

Story Teller

This section of my web site is one of my favorites.
Having only recently begun to study about the Cherokee, and learn
about that part of my ancestry, I find it all beautiful and amazing.
I have some of my own writing here, that of some friends on the net,
and many I have taken from a book I purchased entitled
"American Indian Poetry", edited by George W. Cronyn. It is an anthology
of songs and chants. There are many others to come.
The first group is about love and the songs of love and passion.
The Mirrors of My Eyes poem, is the beginning of a group
of songs, poems and chants regarding the warrior.

Out of the Indian approach to life there came
a great freedom--an intense and absorbing love for nature;
a respect for life; enriching faith in a Supreme Power;
and principles of truth, honesty, generosity, equity, and
brotherhood as a guide to mundane relations.

"Luther Standing Bear (1868?-1939)
Oglala Sioux chief
